RiscPC expansion price contractionAs a major developer of hardware upgrades for RISC OS computers, Stuart Tyrrell Developments are aware of the huge number of older machines which are still in everyday use. Although RISC OS has come a long way since the launch of the RiscPC, with advances like RISC OS Adjust, Iyonix and the new A9home the unique design of the RPC is a classic, and enables them to be upgraded in ways never envisaged via expansion cards such as our Unipod. Why not treat yourself and your long serving machine to a nice shiny new upgrade from STD, either to increase the performance of your RiscPC, or to add further functionality and usefulness? Especially when, with the STD Winter Sale, you can do just that for less! We have selected a range of our most popular RiscPC upgrades to include in the sale, these are detailed below. Starring BASIC and Dr Wimps SurgeryThe RISCOS specific charity-books "Starting Basic" and "Dr Wimp's Surgery" have each sold nearly 300 copies and generated almost 3000-00 for charity... and the good news is that they are still in print and available. Each is A5 ring-bound and over 300 pages. "Starting Basic" assumes no programming knowledge at all. "Dr Wimp's Surgery" assumes a reasonable knowledge of Basic and, although primarily focussed on how to use the freeware Dr Wimp package, it is a good introduction and reference book for any Wimp-programming in Basic (indeed, a commercial Wimp-programming package recommended the book for its users). Current price for each is 17-00 including P&P plus discs and all profit goes to charity (currently about 3-50 per book). If you have a first edition of "Dr Wimp's Surgery" you may wish to know that it was completely revised and updated in 2003: it is based on a Dr Wimp version much closer to the current version. As a special offer, owners of the first edition can buy the new edition at 15-00 without the discs (the disc material is available for download on my web-site).
